Oral, IV and Pediatric Sedation Dentistry Regulations
The Florida Board of Dentistry requires a dentist to complete a 60-hour I.V. sedation course, administer 20 clinical patient cases, and obtain a permit before providing oral or IV conscious sedation to dental patients.*
*When the intent is single-agent anxiolysis only, a sedation permit is not required. NOTE: a dispensing permit is required to dispense any oral sedative in-office.

NOTE: Every dental office in he state of Florida is required to have an automated external defibrillator (AED). The dentist and staff must be prepared to use this equipment in an emergency.
